Secrets of Healing

Reiki:
A Journey of Healing, Awakening, and Transportation by Teri Martell
In the study of energy, there are numerous schools of thought, each offering its own unique methods of understanding and channeling life force. One of the most well-known and widely practiced systems of energy healing is Reiki. Originating in Japan in the early 1900s, Reiki was developed by Mikao Usui, a

Buddhist monk and spiritual teacher. Usui's original teachings, now organized into the widely recognized Reiki 1, 2, and 3 levels, were designed as a system to help individuals connect with universal energy for healing and spiritual growth.

Over the years, Usui’s teachings have evolved, with many masters adapting and refining the system to suit their own understanding. However, one thing that remains constant across all Reiki traditions is the Attunement process—a sacred initiation in which a Reiki teacher passes the healing energy to the student, allowing them to channel it for their own healing and the healing of others. This powerful, energetic exchange is central to Reiki’s practice and has been handed down through generations, from master to student, maintaining its integrity.

In the late 1930s, Reiki was introduced to the United States by Hawayo Takata, a Japanese-American woman who had received Reiki training in Japan. After experiencing profound healing, Takata became a master teacher herself and trained 22 Reiki Masters. Each of these masters went on to form their own schools of healing, spreading Reiki across North America and the world. As Reiki grew in popularity, it was documented in books and teachings, expanding its reach and providing a broader understanding of this healing art.

Yet, despite the growth and commercialization of Reiki, one aspect remained sacred and personal: the Attunements. Prior to the 1980s, these were never written down but were passed on directly from teacher to student, usually through an intimate, energetic exchange. The process of attunement works by activating specific energy channels within the student's body, often working through the internal chakra system to open the flow of universal life force. This sacred practice ensured that the energy remained pure and could be fully received, often through the aura or the energy field, rather than through words or written texts.

My Personal Journey with Reiki
Having studied and taught Reiki since 2003, my perspective on this beautiful healing art has evolved significantly. When I first began teaching, I saw Reiki primarily as a healing tool—a method for alleviating physical and emotional pain. But over the years, I have come to realize that Reiki is so much more than a healing modality. It is a spiritual journey—a process of awakening that touches every aspect of our being.

Each Reiki Attunement is designed to awaken the student to new aspects of themselves, often uncovering layers they never knew existed. The deeper you go into the system, the more you begin to unlock the innate wisdom, power, and healing potential that resides within you. Here's how each level of Reiki awakens different parts of your being:
-
Reiki 1: This first level is about connecting with the present moment. It helps you become more aware of your energy field, and teaches you to feel the energy around you. Reiki 1 is the opening to empathic frequencies, helping you to tune into subtle energies that you may have been unconsciously processing throughout your life. As you receive your first Attunement, you will begin to notice energy more clearly, both within yourself and in your surroundings.
-
Reiki 2: This level takes you deeper into the emotional and mental layers of your being. Reiki 2 introduces ancient Sanskrit symbols and mantras that help you access and clear emotional and mental blockages stored within your cells. This process often brings to light past traumas, limiting beliefs, and emotional patterns that no longer serve your highest good. Reiki 2 teaches you how to channel energy to clear these blockages, allowing for emotional healing and mental clarity.
-
Reiki 3: The third level of Reiki is about spiritual awakening. It connects you to higher frequencies of energy and deeper wisdom. As you progress to this level, your connection to benevolent spiritual beings—such as angels, guides, and other helpers—becomes more pronounced. Reiki 3 allows you to open to divine wisdom within you, helping you to more fully understand your true spiritual nature. This level empowers you to serve as a teacher, guiding others on their own healing journeys.

Reiki and the Christ Consciousness
As Mikao Usui interest in understanding how Jesus healed, he went on his own journey discovering historical revelations of Jesus. Taking the teaching back to the incarnations of Siddartha to the historical Birth of Jesus. Where today the reality of the Christ Consciousness is the 2nd Coming of Christ with in us as we use the tool of Reiki to Awaken the Christ within us. Not aware that this fabulous channeled work form within is the creation of the New World that is Awakening around us in the service not only of ourselves but as for others.

Mikao Usui’s journey into understanding healing was deeply intertwined with the historical teachings of Jesus. Usui’s own spiritual quest led him to study the life and healing methods of Jesus Christ, as well as the Buddha and other spiritual teachers. Usui’s deep interest in healing and spiritual awakening became a bridge between the Eastern and Western traditions, creating a system that honors both the Buddhist path and the Christ consciousness.

Today, Reiki practitioners can use this ancient system to awaken what is known as the Christ Consciousness within themselves. This concept, often referred to as the "Second Coming of Christ," is not about an external savior, but about the inner awakening of Christ-like qualities: love, compassion, wisdom, and divine service. As we channel Reiki, we are not only healing ourselves but also embodying these qualities to help heal the world around us.

Reiki is a tool that helps us awaken the Christ within, allowing us to live our highest potential and contribute to the creation of a New World. As we heal and evolve, we not only uplift ourselves but also create positive change in our communities, offering service to others in love and light.

Conclusion:
Reiki is not just a method of healing—it is a path of personal transformation. Through each Attunement and each level of training, you are not only learning to heal but also to awaken to the truth of who you are: a divine, infinite being with the power to heal and create a better world. As we continue to explore and practice Reiki, we tap into the vast potential within us, creating not just personal healing, but contributing to the greater awakening of humanity.
....
May your journey with Reiki bring you profound healing, awakening, and wisdom, as you connect more deeply to the divine energy that flows through us all.
